One photograph is all we need
A phone snap is usually enough. A person paints your animal in acrylic — it takes hours rather than seconds, and it is the only way the result ends up looking like your animal rather than a photograph with a filter on it.

Digitally, the same way the painting will be made. Four to eight hours of work per animal.

Change the crop, the tone or the frame as often as you like. Nothing is painted until you say yes.

In acrylic over several sessions, then framed, checked against the proof, and packed by the person who painted it.

The gilding is real
I expected printed gold and it is metal leaf, dulling very slightly where you handle it. The proof took three goes because my boy is mostly black and kept disappearing into the background. They suggested the pale grey and were right.
I could not approve it for two weeks
I ordered this four days after we said goodbye and then could not bring myself to look at the proof. Nobody chased me. When I finally opened it, it was right, and it arrived three days later. The glaze has a soft sheen where I pick it up now.
